I have been making a living from my painting for 22 years. I live by the River Don in South Yorkshire and draw much my inspiration from the wildlife and countryside around me. The locThe The local area is rich in history. Sir Walter Scott was inspired to pen his novel 'Ivanhoe' after passing through on his way to Scotland, and indeed the castle of Conisborough, which features in the novel, is just upstream.
Humber Keels plied their trade from the ports on the Humber Estuary, up the River Don to Rotherham and Sheffield where there was a thriving steel industry, and a variety of cargo was transported.
It is also an area of great natural beauty. There are numerous wildlife wetlands and nature reserves in this part of Yorkshire. Sprotbrough Flash, Denaby Ings and Potteric Carr are just three in the immediate vicinity, all administered by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
In 1989 my husband Michael and I had built the 57 foot narrowboat 'Sprotbro' Painter', it was moored close by our home and used until 2002 as the 'Narrow -boat Gallery' for my paintings.

My work has been published in The Artist, Yorkshire Life, Waterways World, The Leisure Painter, and in local newspapers in Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster. I hold an annual exhibition of my work on Easter Mondays, accept personal commissions, and work in oils, watercolour, gouache and acrylic - suiting the medium to the subject of the painting.
